Self Care Night Ideas

A Simple guide to building the perfect self care night.




After a long week of work, one of my favorite things to do is have a relaxing night alone to regroup, unwind, and focus on myself. I am a huge advocate for self care and self improvement, and I believe that it is so important to take care of yourself both physically and mentally. Even though it is important to do these things every day, it is always nice to have one night dedicated to yourself to do things that you enjoy. In this post I am going to share some of my favorite things to do on my self care nights that help me to relax and destress.


Create a calming atmosphere

The space around you is so important when it comes to being able to relax and clear your mind. This can include things like lighting a candle, diffusing essential oils, playing relaxing music, and so much more. It might sound silly, but its kind of like you have to focus on relaxing through all your senses. I love to clean my room, light a candle, and use fairy lights to make my space feel cozy and calming. Of course, its about finding what works best for you, but these are things I always start with and will always recommend.


Take a warm shower

There is nothing better than the feeling you get after a warm shower, especially when you've exfoliated, shaved, and moisturized. It's the perfect way to start a slow night and a great way to relax your mind and body.


Skin Care

A skin care routine is a staple in every self care night. Whether it's as simple as just cleansing your face, or doing a whole multiple step routine, skin care can leave you feeling refreshed and accomplished. I even recommend adding something different that you don't usually do every night, like a face or eye mask. Do a calming activity

Whether it's cozying up with your favorite book, watching a movie, or doing something creative, finding something simple you enjoy can be a great way to spend a night to yourself. Since it is currently autumn where I live, my favorite thing to do is watch shows and movies that remind me of fall, like Pretty Little Liars, The Vampire Diaries, and Twilight. Other ideas can include knitting, doing your nails, writing in a journal, and so much more. It's about finding things you enjoy.


Enjoy a treat

Part of taking care of yourself is treating yourself. So have your favorite dessert, snack, or a beverage. If you enjoy baking, you can even include that as one of your self care night activities and bake your favorite dessert. But you can also keep it simple, like having a cup of tea or bowl of ice cream. This is easily one of my favorite parts of my self care nights. I love mixing popcorn, chocolate, and trail mix to snack on while I watch TV.


As I have said throughout this post, its all about YOU. The point of a "self care night" is to take care of yourself, as it says in the name. It's so important to make time to relax, reflect, and focus on self improvement. I really hope this post was helpful and provided you with some inspiration for your next self care night.
