As someone who has always had trouble getting into reading and found it to be boring, I know how hard it can be to find a good book that keeps you consistently interested and engaged. My first tip is always to narrow it down to the genres and themes you are interested in. Personally, I find myself more drawn to fantasy, romance, and mystery. I have four books/ book series I have read recently that I really enjoyed and highly recommend. I will provide link, description, and my thoughts on the books to give you an idea of each one.
I am providing links to these books on kindle as well, which you can also purchase through Amazon:

Description- "Isabella Swan's move to Forks, a small, perpetually rainy town in Washington, could have been the most boring move she ever made. But once she meets the mysterious and alluring Edward Cullen, Isabella's life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn.
Up until now, Edward has managed to keep his vampire identity a secret in the small community he lives in, but now nobody is safe, especially Isabella, the person Edward holds most dear. The lovers find themselves balanced precariously on the point of a knife -- between desire and danger.
Deeply romantic and extraordinarily suspenseful, Twilight captures the struggle between defying our instincts and satisfying our desires. This is a love story with bite."
My thoughts:
I know most people have heard of the infamous romance series involving vampires and werewolves that is Twilight. Although this book series and the movies came out a long time ago, I only discovered them very recently. I have re-watched the movies multiple times and consider it to be one of my comfort series. I have only read some of the first book, but considering how much I love the movies, I would recommend giving the books a try. It's great choice if you love supernatural romance, drama, and fantasy.

Description - "Anastasia Allen has worked her entire life for a shot at Team USA. It looks like everything is going according to plan when she gets a full scholarship to the University of California, Maple Hills and lands a place on their competitive figure skating team. Nothing will stand in her way, not even the captain of the hockey team, Nate Hawkins. Nate’s focus as team captain is on keeping his team on the ice. Which is tricky when a facilities mishap means they are forced to share a rink with the figure skating team—including Anastasia, who clearly can’t stand him. But when Anastasia’s skating partner faces an uncertain future, she may have to look to Nate to take her shot. Sparks fly, but Anastasia isn’t worried…because she could never like a hockey player, right?"
My thoughts:
I love a hockey romance, and this was the first one I read and really enjoyed. Just as a warning, it does have some more mature scenes, but not too frequently. One thing I really liked about this book is the side characters. Sometimes romance books will only focus on the two main characters and not give the side characters much personality or significance, but the author does a good job at including the multiple characters which added more depth and possible story lines.

3. Mile High

Description - "Chicago hockey isn’t complete without Evan Zanders—everyone’s favorite player to hate. He knows his role, and he plays it well. In fact, he thoroughly enjoys spending the majority of his game time in the penalty box before leaving the arena with a new girl on his arm. What he doesn't like is the new flight attendant on the team’s private plane, who seems utterly unimpressed with him.
Stevie Shay's been a flight attendant for years. She thought she'd seen it all, but when her new job lands her on a flight working for the most egotistical and self-righteous diva in the NHL, she starts to second guess everything. Including the promise she made to never hook up with an athlete again…no matter how annoyingly tempting he may be.
Every away game blurs the lines between Zanders and Stevie a little more. Stevie is starting to believe he's more than the media portrays. And Zanders can’t figure out if he’s pushing the flight attendant call button just to push her buttons or if there’s more to it."
My Thoughts:
As someone who loves hockey romances and has always been interested in aviation and flight attending, I knew I had to read this book. Like Icebreaker, it does have more mature scenes, but nothing that will ruin the story line. If you really don't like spicier books, I would skip this one, but if that doesn't bother you, then this is a really good book.
I also just learned that there is a series that goes along with this book called the "Windy City Series." I don't know much about it, but from the description, I can tell the second book is directly related to the first.

4. The Keeper of the Lost Cities

Book 1 Description - "Twelve-year-old Sophie has never quite fit into her life. She’s skipped multiple grades and doesn’t really connect with the older kids at school, but she’s not comfortable with her family, either. The reason? Sophie’s a Telepath, someone who can read minds. No one knows her secret—at least, that’s what she thinks…
But the day Sophie meets Fitz, a mysterious (and adorable) boy, she learns she’s not alone. He’s a Telepath too, and it turns out the reason she has never felt at home is that, well…she isn’t. Fitz opens Sophie’s eyes to a shocking truth, and she is forced to leave behind her family for a new life in a place that is vastly different from what she has ever known.
But Sophie still has secrets, and they’re buried deep in her memory for good reason: The answers are dangerous and in high-demand. What is her true identity, and why was she hidden among humans? The truth could mean life or death—and time is running out."
My thoughts:
So technically this book is recommended for younger readers, but as a 19-year-old girl, I actually love it. I am currently on book four of this series, and there is still six more I have yet to read. It's an easy read and a great option if you love fantasy and want to be able to escape to another world. There are so many loveable characters, story lines, and even a little bit of young romance, but nothing that takes over the story. No matter your age, I would highly recommend it.
